I've recently discovered Wanneroo Regional Museum as a great place to visit to spend a couple of hours, especially for something different to our usual activities. My 3 year old daughter loves it, and the best parts are that it has a children's area and admission is free! Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and have come to recognise us now - we seem to visit about once a fortnight lately!
The dedicated Children's area has tables and chairs, books, activities, and games set up. There are multiple craft activities available that can be found at the front desk - these suit a range of ages and abilities. The activities available are based on a theme that is rotated every Wednesday.
Across the other side of the foyer, a display area can be found showcasing items and sensory activities based on the theme. These encourage children to play and interact with the items. The wall to the side displays clipboards with pictures of items around the museum, which can be used by children as a scavenger hunt.
The museum showcases the history of the local area and includes multiple interactive exhibits. This includes a ride-on surfboard, touch screens, and buttons to hear audio. The museum is very well done and is enjoyable for young and old.
